Those of you who are married will know that the wives are worth consulting on important matters, as they seem to carry more knowledge and wisdom. Maybe it is from managing the house, raising kids and pets and husbands, but wives will tell you things that will make you nod in agreement. This certainly is the case with Roger Federer, when he almost stepped away from Tennis. A little refresher from us at 777iGame: Roger Federer suffered a knee injury in 2016 and for the first time since 2000, he was not able to win a title, and he was also not able to join the Summer Olympics in 2016. It was around this time that he contemplated leaving behind his tennis career. But a conversation with this wife, Mirka, helped him clear his mind and decide to get back to the game.

“It probably was a dinner, while we were alone around a table,” Federer said in an interview with Swiss newspaper Tages Anzeiger. “I don’t even remember if I asked her if I had to stop or if she thought that I could still win. It probably was something in that direction. And she told me: ‘If you want to do it [play further] and you feel well, I don’t see why you shouldn’t win another big tournament or beat anyone.’

“I had that feeling as well. Still, it wasn’t a long conversation.” Federer said.

Soon after this happened he went back to playing tennis and won his 20th Grand Slam title in this year’s Australian Open. Despite winning this, he will be passing on the French Open next month and will be sitting out for the clay-court season. He also is more particular with his schedule and welcomes the time where he gets to rest away from the limelight, as the tires from the attention that he gets at times

“That’s why my schedule is important: I can still take a full rest. If this attention was always there, I would be exhausted and I couldn’t enjoy the rest. But I am happy that there is such a clamor around my person.” He adds.

While Roger Federer gets the chance to rest between tournaments, we at 777iGame will surely be looking forward to seeing him in future matches. We also believe that by Roger Federer not playing in every tournament in the year, he is building up the anticipation and excitement that his fans and supporters will be watching out for, and will surely keep him on his feet and in the zone.
