In the crossroads super middleweight fight held at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, former WBC 154 lb champ Sergio Mora, with a record of 29-5-2 and 9 Kos won in the 8th round by split decision over Alfred Angulo, with a record of 24-7, 20 Kos. The scores for the match were 77-75 for Angulo and 78-74 for Mora.

We at 777iGame think that this is good for Mora fans since he lost his last back to back fights (stoppage) by Daniel Jacobs. Angulo, meanwhile, has lost 4 out of his 6 previous fights and has not fought since 2016.

During the fight, Angulo was gearing to get close to Mora, but Mora was quick on his toes. His even faster hands managed to get in some punches, but Angulo took those in stride. Angulo tried to get Mora to slow down and tried to hit hooks to the body, but Mora’s left hand was connecting more. In the second round, Mora’s punches had a bit more force, where Angulo was left stunned for a few seconds. The third round proved to be Angulo’s chance to try to wind Mora down and get him tired so he could come in start packing punches. Angulo maintained the pace and was trying to get things moving fast with the goal to get Mora tired and slow on his mind. This strategy was working, since by the fifth round, Mora was trying to slow the pace down.

The sixth round, however, was the round that turned things around for Mora. His moves started to hit more skin, the frequency of the connection was increasing. Mora seemed to have found his second wind on the seventh round, where his speed outmatched Angulo. Up to the eighth round, Mora maintained his movement and his goal to hit with more accuracy. Despite a few punches that Angulo landed in the last three minutes, it was simply not enough, as Mora was able to take that easily, and worked, successfully, on landing more hits.
