Tennis has always been a popular sport- not just from people who watch Tennis tournaments, but as a weekly sport that people can play to unwind, have fun with friends and family, or for exercise. We at 777iSports consulted a Tennis coach and asked him for some basic tips that we can use to improve our game. Here are a few of them:

Communicate and Get Motivated.
Sometimes, its when or how you communicate or talk to fellow players or even coaches to students, that can help shape a player. There is no single rule here – you always base it on the personality of the player, and what you think will help them the most.

  • Master your Serve
    You should always go through the motions of your serve – and don’t do a lame version of this. You should use your full energy, and get used to the movement. Memorize it. Own it. Muscle memory plays a huge part in sports and in our daily lives. Use it to improve your game.
  • Go to the Most Basic of All
    Start as close as you can to the serve line and stay between the lines of singles and doubles. Try playing points only between these lines. Take as much time as you can until you feel confident that you can play as well as you are now if you move back a bit further. Continue to do this until you get to the baseline. You need to master this and perfect your balance so you can be able to move in between the lines easily.
  • Do Not Overplay
    Don’t overplay or play the lines too much. Instead of going for what you think is an unbeatable move, play smart. Defy what you think the odds are and go for it. Be strategic about your plays.
  • Always Be Prepared
    Any sports coach or instructor will tell you this. It is not just about being alert, it is about being physically prepared to move according to the play. In the case of tennis, your shoulders and hips should be turned even before the ball will bounce on your side.
  • Follow Through
    This term is most popular with Basketball, but we at 777iGame learned that this principle does apply to tennis too. You can especially get ahead if you use this to exaggerate your follow through. You should also always move your feet and not just think about making sure you hit the ball.
  • Recover Fast
    You hit the ball, you follow through, and you watch and wait until you see what your opponent will do. This is wrong. You are not only unprepared, but you are opening yourself to the opponent reading your moves and will be free to direct the play the way they want. When this happens, you won’t be ready to meet the play and get the ball across. Instead, do as the pros do- hit it, follow through, and get back into position as fast as you can.

Run and Hit
The last tip we at 77iGame got, and probably the most important, is to always go after the ball, no matter how impossible it seems. Your goal is to never let the ball bounce twice and run to make sure it doesn’t.
